Kelly Clarkson To Perform At 2018 ACM Awards In Las Vegas

Kelly Clarkson will straddle over the genres when she performs at the upcoming 53rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on April 15.

Earlier this week, American Idol’s original champ was announced alongside Kane Brown as performers for the ceremony. No word on what Clarkson will sing at the show, but she has shown off her country roots several times throughout her almost two-decade-long career. She also has a sporadic history with the ceremony as she performed “What Hurts the Most” with Rascal Flatts at the 2006 affair, joined Reba McEntire for a collab of “Because of You” the following year and even won titles for Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year, courtesy of her “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” her duet with Jason Aldean.

Clarkson joins a list of already announced performers, including Alan Jackson, Little Big Town and Jon Pardi for the MGM Grand Garden Arena. McEntire will appropriately serve as the host for this year’s ceremony, with presenters Eve, Ashton Kutcher and Kiefer Sutherland.

Just last year, Clarkson opened up to iHeartRadio about her scrapped country songs that leaked onto the blogosphere, admitting that she thinks they made their way online because someone was trying to sabotage her. "I cut actually three country songs because we were going to work on a country thing, but I was in a situation with the label that wasn't on board with it, so it was very hard," she said.
